An expedition sponsored by the Himalayan Club visited the Ang Tung (Angtung) range in Ladakh in August 2012, approaching via the Koh Lungpa (Ku Longpa) valley. The valley had not previously been visited by any mountaineering expedition. It runs northwards from Pangong Lake (Pangong Tso), with the Ang Tung forming the east wall of the valley, dividing it from the Shyok valley to the west. The team approached the mountains by a two-day trek from Yurgo village.

The exact location of Petze Kangri is unclear, but it may be the peak just east of Lugzl Pombo, as shown on the map below..

Divyesh Muni and Vineeta Muni, Rajesh Gadgil, Lt. Col. Shamsher Singh, Nima Thondup and Pemba Norbu and approached the peak from the south and then climbed its east face They reached the summit on 9 August.

Members of the expedition also climbed nearby Lugzl Pombo.
