Kedarnath temple is dedicated to the god Shiva. It is situated at an altitude of 3580 metres and is dwarfed by the south face of Kedarnath mountain (6940 metres). The glacier is the source of the Mandakini River, one of the four main sources of the Ganga (the Char Damh)
