On 31 July 2012 Mark Richey, Steve Swenson and Freddie Wilkinson made the first ascent of an unnamed 6585m peak above the South Shukpa Kungchang Glacier in the eastern Karakoram.

They ascended by the north face, which gave them 12 pitches of "superb grade 4+ ice" to the summit ridge, followed by a "tricky traverse" to the summit. They descended by abseil. The ascent was accomplished in a 22-hour round trip from an advanced base camp on the South Shukpa Kungchang Glacier, in the course of an Indo-American expedition that culminated in the ascent of Saser Kangri II.

Following consultation with Ladakhi members of the expedition, the climbers have proposed the name Tsok Kangri for the peak. It should not be confused with Stok Kangri (6153m), a well-known trekking peak in Ladakh.
